Spring Select Program

The objective of the Select program is to allow players a chance to practice and play concurrently to the rec season in order to further develop their softball skills. Select is open to CV United players registered for the spring rec season who have previous softball playing experience.

Players who wish to participate on Select teams and who are ultimately chosen to participate should aspire to be on the All-Star teams for the upcoming All-Star Season.

Tryouts for the Select teams are held in January. Teams are formed in the 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U divisions starting as soon as early January. During this time, a general outline of the teams and practice will be provided as available.

The USA Softball of Southern California select season formally runs from January 1st until March 31st. Practices will take place on Sundays, with scheduled friendly games and tournaments also taking place on Sundays.  All Select teams are bound by USA softball rules to practice or play once per week.

We ask that any player that is chosen to join a Select team in the spring commit to weekly Sunday practices and games during this period as well as anticipate playing in scheduled games and tournaments. In order to maintain spring eligibility for Select, all players must participate in at least 75% of their combined spring recreation team practices and games.

The overall cost will be limited to any applicable tournament fees, umpire fees for friendly games and incidental uniform costs. Your child must be registered for the spring recreation season to be initially eligible for a Select team.

We think this is a great chance for our kids to further develop their softball skills in an accelerated environment - not only by playing and practicing more frequently but also facing a step up in competition.

If you are interested in having your child participate, you can add the age appropriate Select registration. There is no initial charge to do so. As noted above, fees for participation will be determined once teams are formed and the number of games/tournaments are decided.

Select participation does not guarantee placement on the summer Championship/All-Star team for the corresponding division.
